This app is very good at teaching finger placement and note reading. It moves along at a good pace and is great at teaching in baby steps. The only draw back is that this, like many others, does not give the student time to build up the muscles in the hand. Overall it is a good way to start learning but the student will eventually grow out of it. Wish it was a one time buy. Will do the free lessons instead of a monthly subscription.

I like the app and it motivates me to practice. I wonder if Im actually learning because I dont feel like Im remembering notes/chords but time will tell. For now Im completing tests and Im at least practicing.

It teaches you everything you need like the notes and everything

I have been playing guitar for 17 years and I wanted to get more technical. This led me to get the app. I got this when it first came out, and I was having fun with it until they started throwing weird exercises at me. My area of expertise is the rock and metal styles of music. There were some things in here that were crazy. The problem I had with it, is that they wont let you move on from anything if you dont meet their standards. The next part that got a little under my skin was the stupid ads to upgrade to premium on a free app. Now I only get like a half hour of time to move along in my progression. They say that you can play anything that youve unlocked afterwards, but they still barrage you with their ad to upgrade. Overall, I think that this is quite overrated and may help someone starting off a little bit, but the learning curve for these exercises gets progressively steeper as you go on and becomes a nightmare for even a professional. Its ok for what it is, but it certainly has its faults

When I got my guitar, with this app I was playing what a wonderful world in under an hour!

I bought a guitar years ago. And Ive tried a number of self-teaching methods over the years. But they all seemed tedious and boring. So no matter what I tried, I found myself hanging the guitar up to collect dust after a week or two. Ive been using this app for three days now and I look forward to each use. I started with the free version, but quickly decided to go to the free trial. I couldnt stand waiting another day for a few minutes of time, as provided by the free version. The full version is fun and challenging. I use an acoustic guitar with an iPad and the app has worked pretty much flawlessly. I can see how this app might be frustrating for those who want to be perfect on each challenge without perfecting their technique. Or for those who want things arranged to their own satisfaction without the requirement to unlock sections before moving on. But it suits me just fine. And for ten bucks a month to learn to play, its a great bargain.

This app has provided an excellent means to practice whenever I want, and at the pace I desire. I have been able to learn five chords in less than a weeks time which is great. The program puts the lessons to music which makes even the most mundane beginner lessons a little bit more enjoyable. I enjoy most that I am not being forced to pluck out "twinkle twinkle" and that the so be they choose are engaging. Ive so far nailed down five chords and cannot believe my progress so far. Being a week into it, I cant speak for the whole program but so far I dont regret it at all! Thanks Yousician.

It walks you straight through I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn a new instrument or wanting to continue their path in music.

My 8 year old just got her first guitar and is doing amazing! It feels a lot like playing guitar hero, super easy in the beginning and progressively gets harder. Love the app, however I will not buy the monthly because of my schedule, but I may buy single months during summer when I have more time.
